Ministry Update
January – March 2002
Dear Friends, The first three months of 2002 have been very busy and very profitable. Once again this year, I was in Alaska for the entire month of January and held meetings from one end of the state to the other. It was good to be back at Lighthouse Baptist Church on the island of Kodiak, Immanuel Baptist in Palmer, and Selawik Bible Baptist Church up above the Arctic Circle. Brother Warren Compton and his family are doing a great job there in the village of Selawik. We had a tremendous meeting that week and several folks trusted Christ. God has truly blessed the faithfulness of the Compton family. There are some pictures from the village on the web site.
The last week of January, I was able to be in my home church in Fairbanks and then spend a few days with my family in Soldotna. It was also a good time to get some much needed dental work done, not exactly one of my favorite things, but certainly necessary. It was a good time as well, to have my fiancé, Liz Paisley, fly up and meet my family and the people of my church. From all appearances, she "passed the test" so it was a successful trip!
February found me back "Outside.î (For those of you who are unfamiliar with Alaskan terminology, that is everywhere other than Alaska.) It was encouraging to be back at Bible Believers Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky, and see what the Lord is doing there. Then it was on to Pennsylvania for a couple of weeks. I was able to be at Mayfield Bible Baptist in Beaver Falls and First Bible Baptist in Harmony, and we had tremendous meetings in both churches.
The next week, we had a great meeting at Baptist Tabernacle in Carlisle, Ohio. Pastor Mike Gray and the folks there prayed around the clock before the meeting and we truly saw God bless in the services that week.
Immediately after that meeting, I headed West to Arizona. One of the blessings of being on the road is having the opportunity to stop by and visit old friends from time to time. As I was going through New Mexico, I had the opportunity to stop and have dinner with my good friends Rick and Debbie Kay in Albuquerque. We had a good time of fellowship that night and were able to catch up on what the Lord has been doing in our lives, before I had to move on to Phoenix.
The meeting that week at Cornerstone Baptist Church, was a real blessing, with several folks saved. Pastor Terry Randolph has served God faithfully there in Phoenix for many years and God has blessed the ministry there in an amazing way.
After the meeting in Phoenix, I headed north to Lewiston, Idaho, to be with Bro. Matt Burchard and the folks at Lewis-Clark Valley Baptist Church. This church is just two years old, but they are off to a good start and we had great services. It will be exciting to see what the Lord does there in the coming years. Since Lewiston is only a couple of hours east of Pasco, Washington, I had the opportunity to go over and spend a couple of days visiting with Liz and her family before I had to begin the long trip to the east once again.
I will spare you the monotonous details of four long days of driving, but it includes lots of truck stops and black coffee. I did manage to get stranded in a snow storm in Wyoming and had to do several hours worth of back-tracking to get around the storms and road closures. The Lord allowed me to get through all of it safely and I arrived in Lancaster, Ohio, right on schedule for a revival meeting at Bible Baptist Church.
I cannot thank all of you enough for your continued prayer and encouragement. Just this week I received several e-mail notes reminding me that people are praying. I am very thankful.
