Ministry Update

April – June 2002

Dear Friends,

I have finally found time to sit down and update you on what has been going on for the last three months.  Summer is upon us and along with it, a full schedule of revival meetings and Bible conferences all around the country.  Make sure you check the itinerary on the web site to find out when I will be in your area.

My newest recording is now available in both CD and Cassette.  It is entitled "Jesus Leads" and is full of songs that I believe will be a help and encouragement to God's people. You can order a copy by phone, e-mail, or from the web site.

In April, we had our annual Men's Retreat at Victory Bible Camp in Palmer, Alaska. We had a great time of preaching and singing together for three days and it was a real blessing to have Bro. Jim White with us once again this year.

After the retreat, I was able to be at Manna Baptist Church in Palmer for Sunday services.  Bro. & Mrs. Watson have been good friends of mine since we were all a whole lot younger!

I had the privilege of being in Vancouver and Surrey, British Columbia for the first time in April and had some great meetings at Harvest Baptist Church and Grace Baptist Church. For an area with such a large population, there are relatively few good churches preaching the Gospel.  Praise the Lord for those who have dedicated their lives to minister there.   What a blessing it was to be with Pastor Mark Smith and the good folks at Faith Baptist Church in Tacoma, Washington.  I had a good time "talking shop" with the people involved in the music ministry on Saturday and then we had some great services Sunday.  God has blessed the ministry there and I believe there are exciting things in the future for Faith Baptist.

I preached the following Wednesday night at Woodin Valley Baptist in Woodinville, WA, and they were kind enough to keep my van at the church and haul me back and forth to the airport when I flew out that night for my next meeting at Riverdale Baptist Church in New Jersey.  (Thank you Bro. Tim.)

After returning from New Jersey, I began the long drive to Alaska for several meetings.  I was able to be in my home town for a week while preaching a revival meeting for Pastor Ray Boutwell at Immanuel Baptist Church in Kenai.  We had a great time there and it is always good to be back home for a while and spend some time with family.

I was also able to be in the village of Fort Yukon with missionary Ronnie Starr.  He has done a great work there and is getting ready to turn the ministry over to a full-time pastor. Please pray for the church there and for Brother & Sister Starr as they face a time of transition.

Since it was "graduation season" while I was in Alaska, I was able to sing for the graduation of my niece (I'm getting old!) from Banner Christian Academy in Anchorage and then preach for the graduation for my home church.  I pray that some of these young people will end up in full-time ministry. If ever there was a time when we need more young people surrendering their lives to serve God, it is now.

The next week I was with Missionary Larry Harrison and the good folks of Calvary Baptist Church in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada and the Lord blessed with a good meeting there.  Bro. Harrison has done a great job there and the Lord has blessed his faithfulness.  He has a real burden to reach out to the rest of Northern Canada from Whitehorse.

Following the meeting in Whitehorse, I had yet another long drive ahead as I made my way to California for a couple of weeks.  It was good to be at Calvary Baptist in American Canyon, Bible Baptist in Vallejo and Central Baptist in Clovis once again.  It has been about three years since I was out that direction and I was encouraged to see what the Lord is doing in all three of these churches.

Now, I am preparing to head out on my last trip as a single man.  Please pray for guidance as Liz and I begin our life together on July 12th.  I am excited about having her travel with me and introducing her to each of you.  I know she will be a blessing to every church we are in.  We will try to get some pictures of the wedding up on the web site as soon as we can after the big event.
