Ministry Update
January-March 2006
Dear Praying Friends,
2006 is now well underway and it has already been an exciting year!
We started out the year in Alaska at our home church in Fairbanks and then began a revival meeting the next week in Nikiski with missionary Royce McCoy. We saw some good results there at Cornerstone Baptist in Nikiski and then headed even further south to Juneau, Alaska to be with Pastor Joe Mishler at Lighthouse Baptist Church.
About thirty people went with us to Juneau and we spent the days knocking on doors, passing out tracts and Bibles, and held evangelistic services in the evening. Several people trusted Christ as Saviour and many new visitors came to the services. It was a blessing to be able to preach every night and have a part of what the Lord is doing in Alaska's state capitol.
After flying out of Alaska, we spent the next Sunday at Baptist Tabernacle in Carlisle, Ohio. We always look forward to being with Pastor Gray and the folks there. It is an exciting church and the people always respond well to the singing and preaching of the Word of God.
The next three weeks Liz had to stay home in Kentucky while I flew out to meetings in California and New Mexico. We always travel together as a family, so it is awkward when Liz is not with me. Due to the impending arrival of our second baby, we decided it would be best for her to stay home. She just wasn't excited about having a baby in an airplane!
Liz's mother was able to come and stay during that time and was a tremendous help and blessing.
I was able to be with Pastor Ken Bates at Grace Baptist Church in Corona, California for their annual Bible-Believers Conference and we had a great time. A good number of pastors from the Southwest were able to attend and it was an exciting time of preaching, singing, fellowship and food.
The next week I was in revival at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Concord, California with Pastor T.L. Newhouse, before flying to New Mexico for Sunday services and a Monday night Valentines Banquet at College Heights Baptist Church in Farmington. I flew back home on Valentines Day and my lovely wife met me at the airport, still patiently awaiting the arrival of our new baby.
I preached a revival meeting the next week at Bible Believers Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky where Bro. Jim Coffman is the pastor. Lexington is about two and one-half hours away from our house, so I was able to drive to the services each night. Mrs. Coffman was kind enough to "hold the phone" for me during the services, just in case the baby decided to come, but another week went by without a trip to the hospital.
About 17 months ago, the last church service we were in before the birth of our daughter, Hope, was at Bible Baptist Church in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, so we decided to go back there and see what would happen! We had a great Sunday at Bible Baptist and sure enough, on Tuesday. February 28th, David Benjamin Rogers came into the world! Make sure you check out the web site to see his pictures and all of his vital statistics.
A special "Thank You" to Pastor and Mrs. Bowman and the people of Bible Baptist in Beaver Dam for helping us get the "show on the road"! I'm not sure if we will be going back there for a while...
As we did when Hope was born, we cancelled all of our regular revival meetings around the time of the birth and I just preached Sundays close to the house, so that we could have some adjustment time before getting back to our normal schedule. Because of that, there were several churches we had meetings scheduled for some time and they had to be cancelled. We want to thank those churches for their understanding and flexibility.
The Lord gave us great Sunday services at Freedom Baptist in Carbon Hill, Alabama, Tri-County Baptist in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia and Hillview Baptist in Port Washington, Ohio.
March has been quite a month of adjustment. We have added another car seat, a whole bunch of luggage, and purchased a cargo trailer to pull behind the van for all of our "stuff." Praise the Lord!
Please remember to pray for our family as we endeavor to serve our Saviour.
God bless you,
